About Me

My photo
Yardley, Pennsylvania
When I was 23 I got my first job working in newspapers as a page designer. It didn't pay much but that was ok because I got to do what I loved, which was using words and photographs to tell stories of people's lives. In the end, I'm hoping to do the same with this blog, while at the same time, grow as a photographer, writer, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. Thanks for looking.

Dad

Mike Ford plays the guitar at his home in Hamlin, New York on November 12, 2011.

When I was a kid my dad used to play guitar all the time. To this day I can't hear the song "Friend of the Devil" by the Grateful Dead and not think of my childhood. As the years moved on my dad put down the guitar for several years. A couple of years ago he decided to pick it up again. I'm glad he did as this is my favorite picture I've ever taken of him, and honestly I think playing music is a big part of who he is. Living six hours away, we only get back to Hamlin a few times a year. Having photos like this one helps keep the family close.

Showered With Love

Renee Trombley shows her gift to guests at her baby shower in Southampton, New Jersey on Saturday, February 16, 2013.

What a nice afternoon! Taren and I took a trip down to south Jersey yesterday to celebrate and photograph our friend Renee's baby shower. Baby Adaleen will be here sometime in March and she's going to be a member of such a nice family. I'm not sure what I would have done without Taren there with me. Together we came up with several  ideas we liked and things came together really well! Also want to say thanks to Renee's mom Liz for having us out and for the AMAZING food! We are looking forward to meeting Adaleen this spring!

Jammed

Cars sit parked just north of Exit 8A on the New Jersey Turnpike on Saturday morning. An accident just south of the exit caused a massive traffic jam backing up traffic in the southbound lanes for more than four miles.

We headed down to South Jersey today to photograph our friend Renee's baby shower. However we were not able to escape the Parkway/Turnpike gauntlet without getting stuck this time. We ended up getting stuck in this jam for more than an hour. As much as it sucked sitting there, I hope the people involved in the accident are ok.

Library Abstracts

People exit the New York Public Library in New York City on Thursday, February 14, 2013.

I paid a visit to the New York Public Library on Thursday. What an amazing building! I didn't take any photos of people reading but instead just messed around with the light. Thanks for looking...

City Love

A couple stops for a Valentine's Day smooch in front of the LOVE sign on Sixth Avenue in New York City on Thursday, February 14, 2013.

Went to New York today. I was walking uptown when I hit the Love sign so figured I might as well take some pictures since it's Valentine's Day and all...

The Trombleys

Renee and Alex Trombley pictured in their living room on Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Dover, Pennsylvania.

We had a great time hanging with the Trombleys down in Dover this weekend! It was nice to escape the snow storm. Renee and Alex are looking forward to the arrival of the newest member of their family this March. We can't wait to meet her! Thanks guys for posing for some portraits for me!

The Anti-Nemo

A ship sales off of Mallory Square in Key West, Florida on Wednesday, August 22, 2012.

I'm just gonna put it out there right now. I've officially reached the point where I've had enough of winter and it really hasn't even been that bad. As Winter Storm Nemo approaches I couldn't help but go back and look at some pictures from our honeymoon in Key West this past summer. Here's to the Casa Marina resort, sitting poolside with my beautiful wife, sweet sunsets and warm nights chilling on Duval Street. Bring it on Nemo. And what's up with naming winter storms now? As far back as I can remember it was either called a snow storm or blizzard of whatever year. Now we're naming blizzards after Disney characters.
