About Me

My photo
Yardley, Pennsylvania
When I was 23 I got my first job working in newspapers as a page designer. It didn't pay much but that was ok because I got to do what I loved, which was using words and photographs to tell stories of people's lives. In the end, I'm hoping to do the same with this blog, while at the same time, grow as a photographer, writer, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. Thanks for looking.

The Apple of My Eye

My wife Taren takes a breather from raiding the Golden Delicious trees at Penning's Orchard in Warwick, New York on Saturday, September 29, 2012.

We took a trip up to Penning's Orchard in Warwick New York today to get us some apples. Stupidly I forgot my camera at home but got this one of Taren with my iphone. The storm clouds look pretty fierce but luckily all it did was sprinkle on us a little bit. After filling a big ole bag with Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Macintosh, Fuji's and several others we headed into downtown Warwick for a nice dinner. I definitely plan on heading back up that way this fall with my camera. It's beautiful there this time of year.

The sun comes up over the mountains in Lake Placid, New York on Saturday, September 22, 2012.

Lake Placid is an amazing place. I feel like I could spend months up there and never get tired of taking pictures there. Here's a few from the 24 hours I spent there.

Congratulations Leah!

Leah Draper having fun on her wedding day in Lake Placid, New York on Saturday, September 22, 2012.

I traveled to Lake Placid this weekend to watch my cousin Leah tie the knot! It was a beautiful ceremony for a beautiful bride. Lake Placid is an awesome place, especially in the fall. I spent my time at the wedding hanging with my parents and extended family and snapping frames with my cousins Amy and Guy Keech. It was great catching up with everyone!

South Carroll Invitational Champs

The Severna Park boys varsity cross country team huddles at the South Carroll Invitational in Sykesville, Maryland on Friday, September 14, 2012.

I took a trip down to Maryland on Friday to photograph my friend Josh's cross country team. The boys cleaned up at the invite, putting five guys in the top 10 and two more in the top 15.  Josh and fellas, thanks again for having me down there. It was a blast photographing the team in action!

Chicago

A view of downtown Chicago from the south loop area in 2010.

I've spent the last couple of days looking at old pictures I've taken over the last few years. Yesterday I went through a bunch I took in Chicago. The Windy City is definitely my favorite city. It's been too long since I've been back!

He Is Spartan

Jeff Schoenfeld makes his way up the rope obstacle during the Super Spartan competition in Vernon, New Jersey on Saturday, September 8, 2012.

I took a trip up to Vernon, New Jersey today to watch my friend Jeff compete in the Super Spartan. I honestly don't know how anyone is able to complete these races -- running long distance is hard enough without an obstacle course in your way! The race was supposed to be between eight and nine miles but ended up being over 11. The ropes are one of the final obstacles of the course. Competitors have to climb to the top of the rope and ring a bell. From there they slither up a super muddy hill covered in barbed wire. Once that's done, all that's left is a quick jump over a fire pit and flogging before the finish. Congratulations Jeff, I'm sure you'll sleep well tonight! Below is a look at some more of The Super Spartan. Thanks for looking!
