About Me

My photo
Yardley, Pennsylvania
When I was 23 I got my first job working in newspapers as a page designer. It didn't pay much but that was ok because I got to do what I loved, which was using words and photographs to tell stories of people's lives. In the end, I'm hoping to do the same with this blog, while at the same time, grow as a photographer, writer, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. Thanks for looking.

Snaps From The East Side

The Queensboro Bridge as seen from Manhattan on Friday, March 22, 2013.

In the almost nine years I've lived in the New York City metropolitan area I really haven't spent much time on the east side of the city, so today seemed as good a time as any to check things out over there. It was a little chilly walking around but the clouds were cool and all in all was another fun day in NYC. That said it really needs to start feeling like spring outside!

One Cold Photo Walk

Dusk settles in on a cold day in Parsippany, New Jersey on Thursday, March 14, 2013.

I took a little photo walk tonight as the sun was going down to try and get some shots for the blog as well as a couple of Instagrams which I've been using a lot these last few weeks. It was freaking freezing out there tonight. Despite the cold and wind I managed to get a couple shots I liked. Not a whole lot going on in Parsippany on any night. Especially when it's 20 something with the windchill.

On The National Stage

Severna Park Track Club warms up prior to the  4x1 mile relay at the New Balance Nationals Indoor track and field meet at the New Balance Track and Field Center in New York City on Saturday, March 9, 2013.

Severna Park's distance runners added another chapter to a story book season today. They raced against some of the nation's best mile relay teams and finished 17th. The race finishes up the team's indoor competition for the year with outdoor meets just around the corner.

Coach A

Severna Park High School boys cross country and track and field coach Josh Alcombright during a cross country meet in Sykesville, Maryland on Friday, September 14, 2012.

Josh and I go way back. We both came into SUNY Brockport together as freshmen way back in 1993 and quickly became close friends battling each other in interval workouts on the track there. All these years later, "Coach A" is still one of my best friends. He's had quite a year in 2012-2013. His boys won a state championship in cross country and the indoor track and field team has also had a good deal of success. I'm looking forward to documenting his 4x1 mile team on Saturday during the New Balance National Indoor track and field championships at the Armory in New York.

Windy Wednesday

A delivery man chases down a box picked up by winds generated from Winter Storm Saturn in East Caldwell, New Jersey on Wednesday, March 6, 2013.

I decided to take a short drive up to East Caldwell today to see if I could catch something to illustrate the strong winds that are out there today. As I walked around things were not looking too optimistic as nobody was really out on the street. Then out the corner of my eye across the street I saw this guy sprinting after a box being blown down the street. I snapped off three quick frames before traffic blocked my view. This was the one that I liked best.
